Summer 2008

UK news.

The exhibition in the Cultural Industries Quarter Agency (CIQA) is up and runs to July 11th - office hours. My thanks to Rachel Sanderson who booked the exhibition & was more than helpful in hanging it. There are 14 pieces, many new to the UK. Best wishes to all who attended the enlivening pre-hanging workshop.

Details - to view, contact Rachel on 0114 2752622. CIQA is at - Units 71 - 75 Columbia Place, Leadmill Road, Sheffield - 2 min's from the railway station.

Work is also on show at the Cupola Gallery - 178a Middlewood Rd., Sheffield. Tel 0114 2852665 - and the Peli Deli - 1 Jubilee Buildings, Crown Square, Matlock.

Ireland.

The Bridge Gallery is now closed. Best wishes & thanks to all from the gallery & especially to Deirdre Carol, who I hope will soon be back with a new Gallery.

An exhibition of the work of the four artists (and, possibly, others?) who mounted the March 14th show (see previous postings) has been mooted for the end of the year. Details to follow.

Tristan II (pictured above) is the last of the Tristan series to be sold. Many thanks to Ian Whyte, of Whyte's Auctioneers, Molesworth St., for overseeing it's sale at the 10th Annual Telecoms Industry Charity Ball.

As ever, a Whyte's sale should not be missed. The catalogue is now available & can be viewed online.

A new UK exhibition starts at the Creative Exchange, Leadmill Rd., Sheffield on the 27th May. Contact Rachel Sanderson on 0114 275 2622 (from UK) for full details of location & viewing. More details next posting.

Private sale. 'Progenitive III', an imposing triptych, has become available for sale. Anyone who viewed it in the foyer at the Airfield House exhibition in 2007 will remember the piece. It can be viewed on my website - click bottom left icon, on current portfolio. The owners wish to sell it privately & are willing to facilitate viewing in their home. Price is negotiable & will not include any gallery commission. Contact me via mail or mob. & I shall be happy to arrange contact.

March 2008

An exhibition is upon us. Gerard Greene kindly invited Adam Kos, Aoife Lalor and myself to show work with him at his patron Declan Corcoran's premises - 174 Stillorgan Road, D4. (From Dublin - pass RTE, then first left off the sliproad to Montrose Hotel & UCD). Opening 7 to 9pm - Friday 14th March. Also open 12 to 4 pm Sat 15h & Sun 16th. An excellent mixed media show.
You are cordially invited.

The exhibition will be opened by Kirstin Simpson - Lecturer in Architecture at Waterford I.T. - a person of charm, wit, insight and intelligence - her introductory speech should be stunning - so, no pressure there then.

The piece illustrated is the first of a series of 5 inspired by the legend of Tristan and Isolde. These pieces arrived unheralded, interrupting planned work based on music (as the first piece of music - from IFTA nominated composer Jim Lockhart - hasn't arrived yet, this may be a good thing. So much for planning). The pieces get their first airing at the exhibition, showing with 4 of my much beloved 'Liquid' series. The 'Liquid' pieces are bound for the UK if they don't sell - I should like them to stay here, so be prepared for industrial discounting!

The next Irish event will be the ever excellent Whyte's sale from their Molesworth Street premises this May. Full details will follow in next post.

The UK beckons impatiently. The delayed first visit takes place soon - followed by working trips to the Yorkshire studio in June and September. Details follow.

Spring 2008

As a globally-warmed Spring frightens us all into action - here is the first news for 2008.

During the quiet Winter weeks I have been working on portraits - some of you may know the subject of the piece illustrated (shown with the kind permission of the owner).
Another, of a young female, is near completion & an image will appear in a future 'news'. I have enjoyed working on these pieces & have decided to continue making a small number - anyone wishing to discuss a portrait should contact soon as a very limited number commissions will be accepted for this year.

My dear friend & gifted artist Gerard Greene has invited me to exhibit with him & two other friends in an intimate show - opening Fri. March 14th - 7.00 to 9.00 - at his patron, Declan Corcoran's premises at 174 Stillorgan Road.
The show will only be up for the opening night and Sat. 15th & Sun. 16th, 12 to 4pm. You are all invited & a formal invitation will follow.
I have been pricked into making entirely new work for this show & the other Artists' work will be of excellent quality, so it should be worth a visit.
Wine will be served & fun will continue in the nearby Montrose Hotel after the opening.

After a very successful year in Ireland in 2007 I shall be concentrating a little more on the UK in 2008. Further news will be posted soon for all UK clients.
